Friday: A Day in the Napa Valley Wine Country

Sarah had never been to Napa so we planned to spend a day enjoying the wine, food and sights.

Our first stop was Monticello. Yep, that is a replica (though smaller) of Thomas Jefferson's Monticello.
Enjoying wine and conversation with our hostess.

Grapes on the vines.

Next stop was Silver Oak where our host was kind enough to crack open the new release of the 05 Alexander Valley Cab which isn't being offered for tasting until next weekend for their big release party. Oh boy is it good!

Sarah and her wine country friend.

The symbol of Silver Oak, the tower.

When you are in the Napa Valley you have to stop into the Oakville Grocery.

It is stuffed full of gourmet delights.

You can barely walk through the market it is so packed full, but that is half the charm and fun of it.
Next stop was BV where we tasted their high end wines in a separate building.

We had such a great time together.

Orchids in the wine tasting room.

Sarah chilling after tasting. See next post for continuation of our day in the Napa Valley.

I'm so glad you had such a great visit with Sarah! Monticello looks beautiful, and of course I am a "lifer" fan of Silver Oak. How cool they opened a new wine for you before the release date :-)
