It's easy to be grateful for food and shelter, love and hope, health and peace. But what about the hard stuff that darkens our world and wounds us to the quick? I think a deep spiritual truth lies in giving thanks in everything.
In loss of all kinds. In illness. In depression. In grief. In failure. And of course, in health and peace, success and happiness.
I have wondered sometimes how I could possibly thank Him for something that turns my life upside down, yet at times like these I give thanks on faith alone...obedient, trusting, hoping, believing. In times like these I start looking for the good in it. I believe that if God caused it or allowed it, there is great good in it.
We tend to pray and beg Him to lead us out of the valley and onto the mountaintop when we are in trying times. But we need to stop and thank Him. We need to stop seeking what we want to hear and listen to what He is telling us.
I have found there is is good to be found in times of darkness as well as good times. Peace will flow through you when you realize this and listen to what He is saying to you.
God bless.
